Tradition

This year, we decided to celebrate Easter on the Orthodox calendar to give everyone that wanted a covid vaccine time to get one. But there is a hidden advantage to this. We had extra time to prepare for Easter and honor some past traditions.

One special tradition involves making home made polish sausage using my Busia’s “secret” recipe. It is a running joke in the family that only you have the recipe. I consider this recipe the real one since my brother actually made it with Busia by his side. He wrote down each ingredient as it went in. It sure tastes like the real deal to me! Busia will be with the family each Easter as we include her polish sausage WITH horseradish on the side.

Each year, my beautiful sister has brought me a flowering bulb to add to my garden. After they flower, I add the bulb to my walkway so that every spring, I am reminded of my sister as I walk to the house and enjoy the flowers. Here are two beauties that have decided to bloom before the rest.

Now, we are moving on to extra spring cleaning. This includes the yard work. Last year I split many of my perennials and it is so rewarding to see them beginning to sprout in their new homes. What a wonderful season of renewal. I hope you are able to enjoy this season as much as I am.
