Sometimes doing the right thing is as easy as….. doing nothing. No Mow May is a movement to help increase the number and species of bees and try to give them a chance to come back from the brink. I was able to talk Bob into going on this journey with me, so fingers crossed that the neighbors don’t complain. Surprisingly, it looks like we have more neighbors waiting to mow, than mowing.
As usual, there have been some unexpected consequences to our actions. So far, they have all been positive. There has been more time for fun activities, like adding salvia and yarrow to the garden. There is less noise and smoke in the neighborhood. The birds are enjoying some quiet nesting time. And we have discovered some unexpected wild flowers growing in our yard.
