La Crosse, Wisconsin

La Crosse, Wisconsin

Once a year my friends and I like to go on a wine tasting trip and have a little fun. We got knocked off our schedule for a few years due to the Covid pandemic but it was time to get started again. It’s always fun to explore wherever we go and this year the Mississippi River gave us some beautiful views. The people were friendly and welcoming and were always ready to help. Most of the group went on a Segway tour. Even though I didn’t go on the tour, I stopped by to take a picture of the group. The tour guide let me try out one of the Segway and was gracious enough to give me some pointers even though I wasn’t actually going on the tour. It was easier than it looks, so I encourage all of you to give it a try.

I have a lot of family that lives near the big rivers in Missouri but I was a little surprised at how wide the river was so far north. La Crosse is part of the Seven River region of Minnesota and Wisconsin where seven rivers come together to support migratory birds and other wildlife. The watershed also has lush marshes with natural fauna. The seven rivers include the Mississippi, La Crosse, Black, Root, Trempealeau, Kickapoo and Iowa Rivers. The Wisconsin side of the Mississippi includes steep bluffs and the highlight is a view from Granddad’s Bluff. But we can’t forget the La Crosse Queen paddle boat or the World’s Largest Six Pack.

Enjoy my pictures, and get out there and explore!
